Do the right thing...respect Copyright.
If you see or hear of someone that may be infringing upon my copyright policies, please notify me. On this page I will state what you have the right (or not) to do with my designs:
I am speaking for myself - not any other artist. It is your responsibility to contact the artist if you are thinking of doing something that might fall in the realm of copyright infringement.
Copyright has always been a hazy - yet Hot - topic in the decorative painting industry. Frankly...it shouldn't be. Some folks believe that if they purchase something (book/pattern packet, etc.) then that gives them the right to do whatever they wish with it. But they are wrong.
I would like to make it clear what someone can/cannot do with my artwork ~ whether it be in book, pattern packet, line drawing, photograph, image, etc. Here goes....
A person MAY NOT "reproduce/republish" my Pattern Packets (or Books) and then sell them
Simply said: This is *MY* right, no one else's. They cannot copy the written instructions, the line drawing, the photographs, nor any color copies, then package them up and sell them. Again, that is my right, no one else's.
I alone have the right to reproduce those designs, in the manner I choose.
No one else has that right - unless - I have given them the permission to do so.
Quite often, I am asked permission to teach my designs and I love for you to teach them, thank you! I have tried to always be fair, however there are some basic guidelines every teacher should know when teaching my designs. Again, these are my guidelines, I am not speaking for any other artist. Unfortunately copyrights in our society are not standardized, so that is why the importance of checking with your favorite artist, before you teach/sell their designs, if you have any concerns!
For Teaching Purposes:
Books
BTV Vol's 5-8 and the Christmastime series -
These designs and instructional materials are copyrighted by Between the Vines, Inc.
I would prefer you have each student purchase a book...but I know this is not always feasible, so I do give you permission to make one copy of the line drawing for each student for a class; please note my name as the artist and which book it is from - but you cannot copy the written instructions, photos or step-x-steps in any book.
*PLEASE whatever you do - don't "sell" or 'republish' these as packets! That's my right.
Books - BTV 1,2,3,4 are copyrighted by Sue Scheewe Publications & Painting Heartwarming Holidays is published by F& W Publications, contact them for permission, approval, guidelines, etc., if it is not clear.
Pattern Packets:
These designs and instructional materials are copyrighted by Between the Vines, Inc.
Teachers: I would love it (really prefer it) that you purchase the packet, one for each student...we do give quantity wholesale discounts which you could pass on to your students. However, I know this is not always feasible, so I will give you permission to make one copy of the line drawing for each student in the class, again noting my name as the artist/designer. You may not photocopy the instructions, step x steps, or color photographs.
Again - please don't republish the design or packet and then sell them!
ANY/ALL DESIGNS:
You may paint my designs for pleasure or for profit (pin money) @ local craft shows/ fairs, bazaars, on your web site or E bay. (Please note my name as the designer on your web site/E bay.)
*The designs/works are NOT to be used for mass production,
without permission from the artist/author.*
In other words: Don't paint my designs and then sell them to any company for business/commercial use, including catalog sales, etc.- again that is MY right.

NEW: You do not have the right to 'RE-PUBLISH' my designs in full or partial form in Magazines/Books/Websites in the US or other Countries ~ without permission.

Absolutely no line drawing/pattern/design/artwork/photograph
of mine may be manipulated - uploaded/downloaded/digitized/scanned - nor may they be used in PSP Tutorials or any advertisement for logo's, business cards, web sites, scrapbooking, etc. - without express written permission from me.
Teachers: Please email or call for special quantity discounts when teaching my designs!
The information in these packets is presented in good faith; however no warranty is given
nor are results guaranteed.
Please note the phrase/title "BETWEEN THE VINES" is now a Registered Trademark (®), and cannot be used for commercial/business purposes other than by the owner. If you know of anyone using the phrase, please notify us.
Well, if you are still reading this I thank you! I hope that I have enlightened you on what the boundaries are for using my designs. I really don't feel that I am asking too much, I have tried very hard to always give you your money's worth with my designs in the past. Please make it plausible (and not disheartening!) for me (and other artists) to continue ~ by not allowing anyone you know to counterfeit (and/or steal) our designs.
