Bonny Auld Scotland!
After our course in Italy, we were off to lovely, picturesque Scotland!
The weather was simply divine for nearly our entire stay. We had 5-6 days to explore Scotland before our class started so you will find a couple pages of the sites we saw. We went through several old castles ruins, Sweetheart Abbey, and a couple of beautifully preserved castles, one of which we spent a night in! The seminar was held in the quaint lovely town of Castle Douglas. We had a nice roomy venue in the town’s community center, and it worked out wonderfully for our needs. The 3-day class consisted of about 20 wild n’ crazy ladies <just kidding...sort of>, who were willing to give my techniques a go! After a few hair pulls, several gnawed off fingernails and one or two loud sighs ‘n groans, they finally managed to get the hang of it! (Okay, girls, I am only funning ya...) They actually did very well and I was pleased with what they accomplished - there sure was a lot of laughter while we painted beards...(ahem...Kathy, I will never forget!). We learned a few Scottish terms like “boggin” (horrible) and ‘mingun’ (something terrible, with a bad smell) and I learned that certain words mean something totally different in the UK! LOL All in all, it was a lovely time, and I must acknowledge our very dear, sweet hostess: Jocelyn, for all of her hard work prior to (and during!) the seminar...you went above and beyond the call of duty and I can’t begin to thank you for everything!
Along with some of the of castles, you will also see a few photos of our hostess’s husband Malcolm’s award winning walking sticks, along with a photo of a traditional Scottish meal of haggis, neeps n’ tatties, which Malcolm made for us.
Enjoy! Jamie & Flo
